GARY AIKEN TAKES HIS CAMPAIGN PLATFORM TO THE SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION

Gary Aiken, candidate for Mason District Supervisor, took his campaign message and platform to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) on July 18.  During the SEIU interview for endorsement, members discussed concerns about social, environmental, and immigrant justice, as well as healthcare costs, limited term and full time employment, paid parental leave, county law enforcement interaction with ICE, and retirement benefits, among others issues.  During the question and answer time, Gary wove his responses around his platform of economic growth, safety and security, and budget reform.  Gary expressed his trepidation about the lack of progress in Mason District.  Mason is different now than it was twenty-four years ago and it requires a different skill set to manage effectively.  He pledged to be a forward thinking, creative problem solver, with the commitment to put Mason first.  He promised to be a leader who listens to all the people in the district, and to act to get things done.  The final question was “How do you plan to win the election?”  Gary’s response:   “Work like hell!”
