Annandale, VA, Release: January 2, 2019. For Immediate Release
Gary Aiken proudly announces his candidacy for the 2019 election for Mason District Supervisor for the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
Gary has lived and worked in Fairfax County for the past 15 years. He and his wife raise their two children and send them to Fairfax County Public Schools. Gary loves living here. But Fairfax County is at risk.
Fairfax County is becoming less wealthy and less of a desired destination. The County government is not doing enough to encourage young families to stay here, especially inside the Beltway – in Mason District. Our schools are old and overcrowded. Our firefighters, police officers and teachers can’t afford to live here. Hate crimes have plagued churches and the JCC in Mason. While there’s growth from Tysons to Dulles, Mason District declines.
This didn’t happen overnight or by accident; more than two decades of “Penny”-wise, pound foolish fiscal policies and “Gross”-mismanagement of taxpayer dollars by the Board of Supervisors have led us here. It’s time to change that. Enough is enough.
Gary Aiken is a Republican, but the fight for the future of Fairfax County isn’t Democrat vs. Republican. We all want what is best for Fairfax County and our own Mason District. It’s a question of whether the “old” leaders who created the current problems in Fairfax are still the right ones to lead the County into the future. Some current Supervisors have decided to step aside and let a new generation of leaders step forward but Penny Gross is clinging to her power and position. It’s time for A New Direction for Fairfax County.
Election day is November 5, 2019.
